From indoor rowing and flat water masters, beach sprints and coastal, to ocean adventures – let’s explore rowing culture.
SSN founders Rachel Freedman and Tara Morgan are a couple of rowing enthusiasts with nearly 40 years of rowing, coaching, and coxing experience between us. We love spending hours talking about this sport, and regularly find ourselves comparing notes on the perfect stroke, compliment sandwiches, and gnawing on callouses. We invite you to be a part of the conversation.

Lea Park-Kim wanted to row in college, but realized she couldn’t give it the time and dedication she wanted. For her it was all or nothing so she stepped away to focus on academics. Several years later, with her professional life on track, she found her way back to the water. Today Lea is a disciplined, motivated, and insightful rower, coxswain, and coach at River City Rowing Club in West Sacramento, CA.

Allies with Oars promotes inclusion and accessibility for all rowers, regardless of gender identity. It’s up to us to counteract the disinformation campaign targeting the LGBTQIA+ community. Now is the time to show your support of recruiting, racing, and retention initiatives that challenge the gender binary in rowing. Look for Allies Ambassadors at regattas across the country (and even in Canada) throughout the year!
