Olympian Jacob Plihal’s Lesson in Patience and Persistence

Born and raised on Vashon Island, WA, Jacob Plihal learned to row in 2012 after a knee injury prompted him to give up his basketball dreams. He climbed the ladder to Northeastern University team captain, the U23 National team, and was named to the 2024 U.S. Olympic team in the men’s single. At 6’10”, Jacob has a clear view of the world’s biggest rowing and athletic achievement: Paris 2024.

Seattle has the Pococks. Philadelphia has the Kellys. And Boston has the Stones. We’re really excited to kick off season 4 with mother/daughter Olympians Lisa and Gevvie Stone. Lisa was a member of the first U.S. women’s Olympic rowing team in 1976 and went on to a 42-year coaching career. Gevvie was a natural when she took up rowing in high school and was a member of the 2012, 2016 and 2021 U.S. Olympic teams.

[S2] Ep. 8 - Filmmaker Eamon Glavin: Behind the Scenes

Eamon Glavin is a former high school and collegiate rower who started experimenting with cameras in boats and drones overhead to capture video of rowing unlike anything else we’ve seen in mainstream rowing media. In February 2021 he began following lightweight Olympic hopefuls through training and trials in order to produce a rowing documentary about the journey to the Tokyo Olympics.
